Driver Seriously Injured During Fiery I-684 Crash

A driver received serious injuries during a single-vehicle crash on I-684 after the vehicle was consumed in flames, according to the New York State Police.

The crash took place around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday near Exit 7 in Purdys after the male driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the northbound side of the highway, state police in Somers said.

State police were assisted by Croton Falls firefighters who extinguished the fire, and the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps who transported the driver to Danbury Hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, state police said.
