George F. Krell, 79, Former Longtime Armonk Resident, Land Surveyor

ARMONK, N.Y. - George F. Krell, former longtime resident of Armonk, died April 2. He was 79.

Krell was the son of Francis G. and Hannah (Humphreys) Krell. He was raised in Armonk, and was a 1953 graduate of Pleasantville High School. He was a land surveyor, working for Chas. H. Sells Surveyors, until moving to Florida in 1991.

He was a lifetime member of the Armonk Independent Fire Department and was elected chief of the department, where he served from 1967 to 1969. He also served as fire commissioner and was involved in the purchase of a new fire engine, "249".

Krell is survived by his wife, Helen (Robbins); children, Scott (Kathleen) Krell of Liverpool, Susan (James) Quigley of Brewster, Stuart (Donna) Krell of Lutz, Fla., Stephen (Susie) Krell of Liverpool and Stacey Krell of Harrison; sister, Janet (Graff) of Bradenton, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and a nephew.

Calling hours are Thursday, April 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 Main St., Mt. Kisco. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11 at the funeral home followed by burial at Middle Patent Cemetery, Bedford.
