WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. According to the New York Times, a White Plains Nordstrom worker escaped the luxury cruise ship that ran aground early on Friday night.
Maria Arca was able to make it out alive from the Costa Concordia, which started taking on water off the Tuscan coast after hitting a yet to be determined object. Her son told the Times that his mother took the trip as a vacation from her work in the Infant Department at the popular clothing store.
He also stated that she was a diabetic and forgot her insulin on board the cruise ship while trying to escape.
A Nordstrom manager as well as an assistant manager and a customer service representative told a reporter they did not know anyone named Maria Arca who worked there.
News reports said at least three people died and 60 were missing as of Saturday night.
