Updated report

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. --  According to county officials, the water issues should be resolved before 11 a.m.

"Residents in Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Scarsdale, Larchmont and the Town and Village of Mamaroneck may have experienced low or no water pressure this morning," Caren Halbfinger, the Director of Public Affairs for the Westchester County Health Department said in a statement.

"The issue has now been resolved and the water remains safe to use. The issue began at approximately 6 a.m. and water pressure should be fully restored to all residents by 10:30 a.m. Residents in these areas may experience discolored/brown water due to the disturbance. The water is safe to use and anyone with discolored water should run the faucet until it becomes clear before use."

Original report

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Some southern Westchester residents and businesses are seeing little to no water pressure on Tuesday morning as the region experiences service interruptions in certain parts of the area.

According to officials, multiple municipalities - including Yonkers, Larchmont, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Eastchester and Bronxville - were all experiencing water pressure issues after a shaft at an upstate water infrastructure that supplies the area was shut down on Tuesday morning.

The water pressure issue stems from an issue at Delaware Aqueduct’s Shaft 22 upstate. The Westchester Joint Water Works was busy on Tuesday to temporarily reroute water from an alternate source to the area, where locals have reported little to no water pressure. The unexpected shutdown of the water source also forced Mount Vernon schools to operate on a one-hour delay.

The situation is ongoing.
