“I am proud that Westchester has once again received this prestigious honor,” said Astorino in a press release. “Special thanks to John McCaffrey, commissioner of our Department of Information Technology, for his continued leadership as well as the entire IT staff for their innovation and hard work. Leveraging technology is one way the county stays responsive to the needs of residents and can keep costs down.”
This marks the ninth year that Westchester has been recognized for its use of technology to improve services, maximize efficiency and save money.
Thousands of U.S. counties were invited to participate in the 2014 Digital Counties Survey.
Counties were evaluated on their online service delivery, infrastructure, architecture and governance models. Westchester County tied for 10th place in the survey with King County, Wash.
“I am extremely proud that both the Center for Digital Government and NACo once again recognized the great value that Westchester County residents realize via our technology initiatives," said McCaffrey. “The award reflects the tremendous vision of all county departments working in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology.”
