Westchester Pools, Beaches Stay Open An Hour Later During Heat Wave

WESTCHESTER, N.Y. – Westchester County-operated swimming areas will be opened one hour longer than usual beginning Wednesday through the end of the heat wave.

“We can’t do anything about the heat, but by extending our swimming hours by an hour we can help residents stay just a little cooler,” County Executive Robert Astorino said in a press release.

The following swimming areas will be open from 11 a.m. to the extended time of 7:30 p.m.  (no one will be admitted into the pool area after 7 p.m.):

  • Saxon Woods Pool, White Plains
  • The Brook at Tibbetts Brook Park, Yonkers,
  • Willson’s Waves at Willson’s Woods Park, Mount Vernon
  • Croton Point Beach, Croton-on-Hudson
  • Glen Island Beach, New Rochelle
  • Playland Beach at Playland Park, Rye
  • Playland Pool at Playland Park, Rye

Astorino also reminded residents that the Westchester County Health Department has issued a heat advisory.
