Zuckerberg, a White Plains native who grew up in Dobbs Ferry and attended Ardsley High School, said his company had long-avoided the idea because they didn't want to promote negativity. 

What Zuckerberg hopes to ship is an option for end users to express empathy for moments when the "Like" button may not feel appropriate, Fortune reported.
