A man is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly opening fire on a man in broad daylight in Westchester.

Yonkers resident Anthony Villa, 24, was arraigned on a five-count indictment on Monday, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced, including attempted murder and weapons charges.

The indictment alleges that at approximately 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, Villa was walking on the sidewalk of Cliff Street, near the intersection of Spruce Street, when he engaged in an alleged argument with another man who was in the driver’s seat of a car traveling in the area.

While arguing, Villa allegedly pulled out a pistol and began firing at the man in the car. Scarpino noted that “the shooting occurred on a street where there was a heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic.” There were also several children playing in the area at a nearby playground, in the direction Villa allegedly shot.

Villa was arrested on June 4 charged with attempted murder, reckless endangerment, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is due back in court on July 31, when he will face up to 25 years in prison.
