A man has pleaded guilty to his role in the murder of a 24-year-old man from Westchester.

Tasjawn “Tay” White pleaded guilty to the murder of Donovan Brown outside The Modern on Macquesten Parkway in Mount Vernon on March 14 last year. He pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, attempted murder, and robbery, for his role in a crime spree in Westchester.

It is alleged that on the night of March 13 last year, leading into the early morning hours of March 14, Pierre Mensah, 43, and White, 20, were involved in a series of incidents, including a robbery and subsequent attempted robbery, which resulted in Brown’s shooting and death.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. noted that the events related to the indictment “indictment took place in the industrial and residential neighborhoods not far from the Mount Vernon West Metro-North train station. The shooting took place outside 15 S. Macquesten Parkway.

The investigation by Mount Vernon Police detectives, using surveillance video from security cameras in the area, led them to White, Mensah and White’s uncle, Phillip Spearman, 54, who is facing charges for his involvement with the stolen proceeds from the robbery and handgun.

The cases against Mensah and Spearman are still pending.
