Kilgore, along with founder and chairman Carll Tucker, were interviewed by Street Fight, a trade publication that covers the business of hyperlocal news.
Before coming to Daily Voice, Kilgore was president of national sales at Gannett and senior vice president of advertising at Dow Jones Online.
Kilgore said he wants the company to become winners and innovators in the digital news world. He said he is hoping to transform once-a-week visitors into once-a-day visitors and turn once-a-day visitors into three or four times a day. Expansion is also coming "very soon," Kilgore said.
Tucker said Daily Voice's greatest challenge remains how to monetize the audience. The company has more than eight million monthly page views in a covered population of four million. Traffic has increased 40 percent over the past year.
