Vres Students Have a Successful First Day

VALHALLA, N.Y. – Students filed into Virginia Road Elementary School for the first day of the 2011-12 school-year Tuesday.

Eager to meet their teachers and classmates, the students kissed their moms and dads goodbye and headed off to their classrooms, where a new year of fun adventures, learning and development awaited.

“I can honestly say that we had a wonderful first day of school," said VRES school principal Ada-Jimenez Parker. "It was raining, but not at VRES. The sun was shining through and through.  The second graders walked with confidence, grown-up and excited about learning. The grade one students were beautifully dressed for their first day of school, somewhat anxious about what would take place in the classrooms, but prepared to set off on a new adventure.”

VRES has 333 students this year including ten new enrollees, 108 kindergartners, 119 first-graders, and 106 second-graders.
