Lois Colley, who lived on 300-acre Windswept Farm on Titicus Road, was found dead at the estate by a caretaker from blunt force trauma. Police said there was no sign of forced entry and the only thing that appears to be missing is a fire extinguisher.
Her husband, Eugene Colley is not considered a suspect, the police have said.
Melissa McMorris, a spokeswoman for New York State Police Troop K, which is overseeing the investigation, told the Times that a search for the one item missing, a fire extinguisher, turned up empty.
Several neighbors told the times that they are frustrated and nervous, and are now using their security systems, the Times said.
