Area residents flooded to their local retailers to purchase tickets, where there was a jackpot prize of $700 million which was won by a person in Chicopee, Mass. It was the second largest Powerball jackpot in history.

The winning numbers were 06-07-16-23-26 with a Powerball of 04.  According to the New York State Lottery, the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot is one-in-292,201,201,338.

In New York, three tickets were sold that matched five numbers, but not the Powerball - though none from the Hudson Valley - which is good for a $1 million prize. A total of 32 tickets were sold worth $50,000 and 2,495 lottery players took home $100. Another 727,809 players won at least four dollars.
