As many as 8,000 NYSEG customers were without power Sunday evening following afternoon thunderstorms and heavy winds.
Nearly 6,000 customers were affected in the Somers area, including Shenorock, according to NYSEG and reports to Daily Voice.
In Putnam, the outages were mainly in and around Putnam Valley, with nearly 2,500 without power.
