WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. ? The week ahead is likely to be a rainy one for Westchester County residents, according to the National Weather Service.
Monday has already gotten off to a stormy start. An urban and small storm advisory has been issued for Rockland and Westchester counties until 12:45 p.m. Avoid driving in areas where heavy roadway flooding is likely to appear.
A lightning strike set off a cluster of fire alarms Monday in the Greenacres section of Scarsdale at about 10:45 a.m. No fires were reported, just popped breakers.
Monday afternoon will see showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain and spots of fog before 2 p.m.
Monday's high will be near 61 degrees, with possible rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch. Showers are likely Monday night, mainly before midnight with patches of fog after 7 p.m. The overnight low will be around 58 degrees.
Tuesday will also see a chance of showers, with patches of fog before 9 a.m. and a high near 73 degrees. The evening may bring showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then a slight chance of showers with areas of fog after midnight and an overnight low around 61 degrees.
Wednesday will see a slight chance of showers and areas of fog between 9 a.m. and noon, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. The rest of the day is expected to be be partly sunny, with a high near 79 degrees. Wednesday night may see showers before midnight, with an overnight low around 61 degrees.
Thursday may also bring showers and thunderstorms after noon, becoming partly sunny with a high near 78 degrees. Thursday night is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 61 degrees.
On a bright note, the weather is expected to clear up for the weekend, with the weather service predicting Friday, Saturday and Sunday to be partly sunny with the high in the 70s to low 80s.
