Storms KO Power to Thousands in Westchester

Powerful storms tore through Westchester County Friday evening, knocking out power to more than 11,000 customers at the height of the storm.

As of 11 p.m. Con Edison reported there were  5,585 customers offline.  

Nearly 2,000 customers are without electricity in Ossining and about 1,300 in Croton-on-Hudson, where dozens of trees and power lines went down in the storm. There were hundreds of scattered outages reported in Cortlandt,Pleasantville, Mount Pleasant, Briarcliff Manor and Yorktown Heights.

Con Edison is estimating most of the outages will be restored overnight. However, many residents in Ossining may not have power restored until 3 p.m. Saturday.
