The case of missing Edgemont resident Lauren Spierer will be featured on "America's Most Wanted" Saturday.
Spierer, a student at Indiana University, disappeared Friday, June 3 at roughly 4:30 a.m.
"We're not losing hope," said Bloomington Police Lieutenant Bill Parker at Friday's press conference. He stated that they will remain focused on finding her alive.
Police are expanding the search for Spierer, as well as retracing their steps. Parker confirmed that dumpsters and landfills have been searched and encouraged stores in Spierer's path last Friday morning to give their security tapes to police for analysis.
Parker refused to comment on a presumed altercation between Spierer's friend Corey Rossman and a group of men. Carl Salzmann, an attorney for Rossman, claimed his client blacked out after being punched and the altercation was caught by a security camera.
Parker would only say that Spierer was not involved in a fight.
Spierer's friends organized "Lunch for Lauren," a search attempt that took place mid-Friday. Everyone in Bloomington and surrounding counties was asked to take time from their lunch break to search for Spierer in their immediate area.
"It's a concentrated effort for everyone to help us with that," said Charlene Spierer, Lauren's mother, at the press conference.
The Spierer family thanked all volunteers for their assistance. In response to the crisis, hotels in Bloomington are offering discounted rates for those helping with the search. Participating hotels are the Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Scholars Inn.
The "America's Most Wanted" episode airs Saturday on FOX 5 at 9 p.m.
Police are expected to continue giving updates throughout the weekend.
