“Having a roof over your head is one of life’s basic necessities so we must do everything we can to help provide those truly in need with a place to live," Schumer said in a statement. "This federal funding will help support housing initiatives throughout the Hudson Valley that assist needy families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities to find an affordable place to live."
The money will allow various housing authorities to improve facilities for those in need.
“All New Yorkers should have a place to live that is safe and affordable,” Gillibrand said in a statement. “This critical funding will help ensure Hudson Valley families and seniors have access to safe affordable housing options and that the community's needs are met.”
The total money for Westchester projects was $5,340,850 and was broken down as follows:
- Greenburgh Housing Authority: $147,725
- Mount Kisco Housing Authority: $84,740
- North Tarrytown Housing Authority: $87,443
- Peekskill Housing Authority: $436,899
- Port Chester Housing Authority: $460, 658
- Tarrytown Municipal Housing Authority: $160,643
- The Yonkers Municipal Housing Authority: $3,815,968
- Tuckahoe Housing Authority: $146,774
