David Boies, a lawyer and chairman of the law firm Boies, Schiller and Flexner, was fired this week following reports from the New Yorker that he “contracted with a team of private investigators, including former Mossad agents, to try to kill a negative New York Times story about (Weinstein),” while working for the Times.

According to another report from the Times released on Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones may have hired Boies as he contemplates suing the NFL and some of his fellow team owners over negotiations regarding NFL Commissioner - and Bronxville resident - Roger Goodell’s pending contract extension.

The report states that the dispute between Jones and Goodell stems over the commissioner’s controversial six-game suspension of Cowboy running back Ezekiel Elliot, who was accused of domestic abuse for an ex-girlfriend, though no charges were ever filed.

Boise has come under fire this week following a New Yorker report that stated that while his firm was defending the Times in a libel case, it was hiring investigators to target its journalists in an effort to kill a negative story about Weinstein.
