Daily Voice, publisher of 76 community news sites in seven suburban New York City counties, has named Randy Kilgore as CEO, succeeding Carll Tucker, who continues as Founder and Chair.
“Randy is the right leader for tomorrow,” said Tucker, making the announcement. “As President of National Sales for Gannett, and before that, as Chief Revenue Officer for a successful digital start-up, Randy understands the rapidly evolving world of online advertising and digital media. As a husband and father and resident of Daily Voice territory, he understands the essential role Daily Voice plays in our communities. I look forward to working closely with Randy to build a great company.”
A resident of Waccabuc, New York, Kilgore has served as President of National Sales for Gannett & Co., Chief Revenue Officer for Tremor Video, and Senior Vice President for Advertising at Dow Jones. He chaired the board of the Interactive Advertising Bureau in 2013-2014. He will continue to assist IAB as a consultant.
“Daily Voice is poised for breakout success,” said Kilgore. “Digital community news has been a brutal business. Many major communications companies have tried and failed. After eight years of experimentation, Daily Voice figured out how to produce popular, profitable, scalable community news. I look forward to working with Carll and the team to bring Daily Voice to all of non-urban America.”
With 76 sites in seven counties surrounding New York City (Bergen, Passaic, Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, and Fairfield), Daily Voice is visited by 1.6 million unique visitors each month, from a total population of 4 million, according to Google Analytics.
