Powder-Filled Letter Opened By Westchester Intern Alarms Trump's Staff

Donald Trump’s campaign staff in Manhattan had a scare Friday after an intern opened an envelope and white powder fell out, according to a report by cbslocal.com.

Several of Donald Trump's campaign staff and others had to be decontaminated as a precaution after a powder-filled letter was mailed to his offices in Manhattan. The substance turned out to be harmless, cbslocal.com reported.

The unidentified intern is from Westchester, according to a separate News 12 report.

Although the substance reportedly turned out to be harmless, several people working for the Republican presidential candidate and Bedford resident had to be decontaminated as a precaution, the cbslocal.com report said.

Police told cbslocal.com that whoever mailed the envelope to Trump Tower faces prosecution.

Trump was in California at the time of the incident.

A threatening letter that also contained white powder had been mailed to Trump’s son, Eric, last month, according to multiple reports.

Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
