During the six hour detail, a total of 61 tickets were issued, including 50 for speeding. Additionally, two drivers were cited for using their cell phones while driving and there were nine other vehicle and traffic violations.
The detail comes on the heels of a “Speed Week” enforcement in Yonkers, which saw police dish out more than 200 tickets, including 156 for speeding.
According to state police, the special highway safety initiatives are aimed at reducing deaths, injuries and property damage caused by motor vehicle accidents through vehicle and traffic enforcement.
