Bloomington Police released pictures Wednesday of a car that they say is involved with the disappearance of Edgemont resident Lauren Spierer.
After analysis by the FBI, police publicized a grainy photograph of a white, four-door truck with markings on the side. While it is either a Chevy Colorado or Silverado, its wheels are unique, said spokesperson Captain Joe Qualters.
Qualters said that the truck appeared twice in the video, on 10th Street heading toward Morton Street in Bloomington, Indiana, near where Spierer was last seen. Once at 4:14 a.m. and the second time 10 minutes later. The footage's time stamp could be wrong, but that is the police's current markings, he added.
Qualters stated that the truck's bed holds equipment that has yet to be properly identified. Still, members of the Facebook community page "Help Find Lauren Spierer Missing from Indiana University" have speculated that the grainy surveillance footage might illustrate Spierer in the back of the truck.
Police said they are continuing with their truck investigation, attempting to track down the vehicle that they claim absolutely has something to do with Spierer's disappearance. But since there is a lot of construction in the Bloomington area, Qualters said that the owner might not even be from the city.
Another recently released surveillance shot shows Spierer walking down the street, seemingly happy and smiling. In the shot, she is wearing a white top with elbow-length sleeves and black leggings. Her blonde hair is pulled back and a light-colored piece of clothing drapes over her arm.
Bloomington Police are reviewing more video footage of Spierer from early Friday morning, but would not release what location the video shows. However, they have identified the people who appear with Spierer on the tape, Qualters said.
Detectives are still interviewing what they call a "second tier" of individuals who might have new information on the case.
Qualters also commented on the bra that was found during the search, saying that the investigation turned up several articles of clothing, but none that they believe are related to Spierer.
