Pelham Woman Connects to Armonk Plane Crash

PELHAM, N.Y. - Eleanor Colicchio's husband Phil often flies with a friend in a small plane from the Westchester County Airport in Armonk to Montauk on Long Island. The Pelham resident said she would never try to stop her husband from getting in the plane - even in light of Saturday's plane crash.

"I'll never tell him not to do it," Colicchio said. "We've been married 46 years. You never tell someone not to do things."

Colicchio has lived in Pelham her entire life and works at Accent on Antiques on Wolfs Lane. She said she did not hear about Saturday's crash until Monday because she attended graduation parties all weekend. Still, she reacted with horror when she finally heard the news.

"That's your worst nightmare," Colicchio said. "You see it coming and there's nothing you can do."

Phil Colicchio's pilot friend owns several planes and the two men often fly together over the Long Island Sound to Montauk.

Colicchio’s said her husband did not mention the plane crash story to her and she does not think the recent accident would deter him from flying. Though her husband will still take to the skies, Colicchio herself will stay grounded.

"I haven't flown, nor will I," Colicchio said. "I'm kind of fatalistic with things like that. I'm not going to push my luck."
