HARRISON, N.Y. - A woman was injured late Wednesday night when her vehicle collided with another near exit 2 on Interstate 684 and her car went 30 feet off the roadway and into a nearby wooded area, emergency officials said. She was trapped in her car and eventually transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center.
"It was a difficult accident," Purchase Fire Department Chief Joseph Brefere Jr. said.
Brefere said the woman was wedged between her car and a tree after she veered into the nearby woods close to 11 p.m.. It took nearly two hours to get her out of the vehicle.
The cause of the crash was unknown and the emergency responders have not yet identified the drivers. The male driver of the second car involved in the accident refused medical help, Brefere said.

The crash closed all northbound lanes of I-684 near exit 2 shortly after midnight.
