North Castle Launches New Town Website

ARMONK, N.Y. – The wait is over. A month after residents received an in-depth preview of the town’s new website, the town of North Castle launched their new homepage Monday afternoon.

The new North Castle homepage represents several upgrades from its predecessor, including vertical and horizontal navigation.

The address, www.northcastleny.com, remains the same as its predecessor.

“We are very excited about the new North Castle website,” said North Castle Town Clerk Anne Curran. “The new site is visually appealing and it will be an efficient, easy way to access all kinds of information.”

Created by Virtual Towns and Schools, the hope is the new website continually will be able to adapt to new modes of convenience, avoiding the process of another complete renovation down the line.

“This site is built on a scalable foundation, which will hopefully prevent the website from ever becoming obsolete again,” said New York market manager of Virtual Towns and Schools in a January North Castle Town Board meeting presentation.

Falk pinpointed the installment of a new content management system as the primary upgrade. While website visitors will not see the system interface in action, the result of those updating the webpage with fresh content should provide for a livelier online experience.

“With the old site, there was only one set of keys,” said Falk. “The new CMS will allow each town department to post their own updates rather than just one responsible creator.”

Other additions include rotating photos on the masthead, horizontal and vertical navigation (compared to only horizontal), a town meeting calendar openly on display, and separate buttons for E-Service, residents, businesses and NCTV. It also is designed to cater to new-age mediums, such as smartphone users and social media outlets.

Curran is excited for North Castle residents to get a handle on the new technology.

“It will be a great new website,” she said. “It has taken considerable work from everyone to get it done. It will take a little patience to get used to, but once we do, it will be a valuable asset for our residents.”
