North Castle Architecture Board Hears Car Club Plans

ARMONK, N.Y. – The architecture firm representing Vito Errico, the Armonk resident who plans to build a car club on his 60 acre Byram Lake Road property, appeared at the North Castle Architecture Review Board (ARB) meeting Wednesday night to present the plans.

Lawyers and engineers representing Errico have appeared before the North Castle Town and Planning boards and the appearance last night was a preliminary meeting to familiarize the ARB with the project and trade insights on how it could be improved.

After Carol Kurth and John Rapetti of Carol Kurth Architecture made their presentation, members of the ARB offered their queries, which dealt with issues relating to the appearance of the buildings and the property instead of the structural issues the planning board said it is most interested in. ARB member Frank Benish inquired about the color of the buildings, which Kurth and Rappetti said would be a neutral brown shade, and said the choice pleased the board.

Christopher Tuzzo, an ARB member, asked them to preserve mature trees on the property that he said are frequently destroyed during building projects.

The architects said they were considering a green solar roof for the main building, although it may be too expensive and cause leaks on the cars.

The architects said they would meet with the ARB again after they receive approval from the other town boards.

The ARB also heard a presentation from Lori Ceisler, whose husband Billy Ceisler owns Hall of Scoops Ice Cream on Main Street in Armonk and is preparing to open a new business at 387 Main Street. Lori Ceisler proposed the addition of a store front at the back of the store. “It will allow customers access from the rear and will beautify the back area,” she said.

The ARB approved the plan as it was presented.

Lori Ceisler said the business, planning to open this spring, will be a restaurant and apparel shop. She declined to provide the name.
