New Rochelle Trainer Offers Free Workout Advice

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Personal trainer Joseph Hunt offered some advise recently for people who procrastinate about instituting their new year's resolution of going to the gym.

“The brain and mindset have to first be in condition before the body will respond to the will and desire to lose weight, get in shape, build muscle, get toned, and stay fit,” said Hunt. “That’s why rushing into a gym membership on Jan. 1, can be a big waste of time and money for many people.

“Before long, everyday life, work and family commitments get in the way and grabbing a couple of donuts for a breakfast-on-the-run ends up being about the only running that they do,” he said.

Hunt is offering a free Weight Loss and Fitness Workshop March 3, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Westchester County Fitness Professionals. The building is located at 175 Memorial Highway where Hunt has a personal training center. He encourages anyone interested to call him 646-207-8949 or write via e-mail at jhunt.tobefit@gmail.com.

Hunt, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CPT), will give share information on exercise options at the workshop. He offers a specific program he created called Maxfit, which he will explain in detail during the presentation.

New Rochelle ShopRite staff dietitian Samantha Joy Mark will also share insights on combining exercise with nutrition, plus tips on healthy food choices and options that work with any lifestyle and budget. Participants can also take part in a low-intensity mini work-out session following the presentations.

Mount Vernon resident Sonia Runce was having difficulty working out by herself until she found Hunt’s Maxfit classes. “I was spending two hours a day working out by myself in a gym, she said. "But I wasn’t making any progress.  As soon as I signed up for Joseph’s Maxfit classes, I could feel the difference.”

Hunt said people can encounter many issues when they work out alone.

“New gym members can quickly get discouraged by comparing themselves to gym rats and gym bunnies that already have great-looking bodies,” Hunt said.  “Plus, if they don’t know how to properly use free weights and other equipment they can end up not only wasting a lot of time but also injuring themselves,” he said.

Tarshia Holder, 40, also takes part in Hunt’s Maxfit classes at 5:30 a.m. three days a week before going to work as a teacher in the public school teacher in White Plains.

“I was throwing money away on gym memberships because I would sign up and after a while stop going," Holder said. "Joseph motivates me to keep coming.”

Seating is limited at the free workshop and anyone interested should register directly with Hunt.
