Edgemont resident Lauren Spierer has been missing in Indiana for seven days. Bloomington Police Lt. Bill Parker said that a "heck of a lot" of information has come into the department, but he still cannot give clarification to many questions asked by reporters during Thursday's press conference.
Nonetheless, published reports say that an altercation occurred between Spierer's male friend, Corey Rossman, and another group of men by the Smallwood Apartment Complex a few hours before Spierer disappeared. Parker would not confirm the information, but stated that Spierer was not involved in the presumed altercation.
Rossman's lawyer, former Monroe County District Attorney Carl Salzmann, stated that someone approached Rossman and punched him in the face, causing him to black out.
Police are still reviewing the computer hard drives that were seized Tuesday night from the Smallwood Apartment Complex. In addition, several people of interest in the investigation have been given a polygraph test, although Lt. Ryan refused to volunteer their names.
Spierer's parents, Rob and Charlene, looked somber as they thanked Bloomington residents and volunteers for their search efforts.
A reward of $100,000 is being offered to the person leading to Lauren's return, said Rob Spierer.
"Anything small could be big, so speak up," he said.
Rob Spierer also asked landowners to thoroughly check their own properties including forests, garages and sheds. Help is available to those who request it. The police will continue to comb through Bloomington for more information, extending their search from the university's campus areas to the suburbs and neighboring counties.
As Spierer's disappearance has garnered national media attention, several law enforcement agencies have aided in the search, including the Indiana State Police, the Monroe County Sherriff's Department, the U.S. Marshalls, and the National Center for Missing Kids and Exploited Children's Team Adam.
Another press conference will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. in Bloomington, Indiana.
