National Senior Health Day Comes To Westchester

WESTCHESTER, N.Y. – Westchester seniors can learn to tap or belly dance, play bocce or tennis, do chair exercises and learn about nutrition on Wednesday, May 29 as part of the 20th annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day.

The event is organized by Westchester’s Department of Senior Programs and Services and the Health and Wellness Coalition.  The programs are free and open to Westchester residents who are 60 or older.

“I encourage all seniors to circle May 29 on their calendars,” said Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino in a statement. “Fitness is essential for seniors who want to remain active members of their communities.”

The sessions will take place at 11 locations, such as community centers, nutrition sites and adult day-care programs.  County officials said that interested seniors should call each location directly to learn their addresses, the programs they will offer, the times and to register.
