Officials in Metro-North’s largest union may seek to authorize a strike to protest contractual disputes that could affect around 300,000 commuters each day.

James Fahey the executive director of the Association of Commuter Rail Employees and the union’s executive board have agreed to ask its members to authorize a strike that will affect Hudson Valley commuters daily until the situation is resolved, according to

The union represents nearly 2,500 Metro-North engineers and conductors. A strike is expected to affect approximately 300,000 daily. There is no timeline for any possible strike.
