Cameras are being used in the passenger areas as well as the engineer's control area. They were recommended by the National Transportation Safety Board in response to the 2013 fatal train derailment in the Bronx, lohud.com says.
In addition to helping aid in investigations, the cameras will help deter crime, officials said. The cameras in the passenger areas will not record audio, lohud.com reports.
