No trains will run after 4 p.m. as a blizzard continues to rage across the region and Metro-North shuts service due to icing conditions.

Train riders should listen for station announcements and continue to check the Metro-North website for updates.

A blizzard is impacting the entire MTA service area. Due to the deteriorating road conditions and poor visibility, Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad and all above ground NYC Subway service will begin an orderly shutdown of service at 4 p.m. due to deteriorating weather conditions and concerns for customer and employee safety, the MTA said on its website.

"Crews and snow fighting equipment have been dispatched and are working to keep platforms and rails clear of ice and snow," MTA said. "We advise customers if at all possible to remain at home during the duration of this storm."

Metro-North did not say when train service would resume.
