Metro-North, NJ Transit Officials Prepare For Possible Strike

NJ Transit and Metro-North have devised plans in case NJ Transit rail workers go on strike this weekend, according to lohud.com.

It is possible that the contingency plans play out on Monday if an agreement is not reached before Sunday between Metro-North and a group of 17 rail unions, said lohud.com.

NJ Transit operates trains from five stations in Rockland County via a contract with Metro-North, lohud.com reported.

The backup plan for residents of Rockland County would be to take temporary buses from Ramsey/Route 17 station with two stops south of Suffern to the ferry in Weehawkin, N.J., to get to downtown Manhattan, lohud.com reported.

There would also be shuttle buses from Harriman train station and the Palisades Center Park and Ride to the Tarrytown Metro-North Hudson line during peak hours, said lohud.com.

The ferry from Haverstraw to the Ossining train station is also a commuting option, reported lohud.com.
