During the morning peak hours, there will be limited trains every 20 to 30 minutes from Stamford through Rye stations, connecting with express bus service to White Plains station for Harlem Line service to Grand Central Terminal.
From Harrison to Grand Central station, there will be limited local train service every 20 to 30 minutes from Harrison to New Rochelle stations and operating directly to Fordham, Harlem 125th Street and Grand Central Terminal. There will be bus service from Pelham and Mount Vernon East to Mount Vernon West for Harlem Line service.
There will be limited diesel train service from Grand Central Terminal every 30 to 40 minutes, making every stop until Stamford. In the off-peak hours, there will be local train service every half-hour between Stamford and Grand Central Terminal.
Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy said in a press conference Wednesday night that there could be a partial restoration of power to the portions of the New Haven Line without power by this weekend.
As commuters tried to make their way home Thursday, some were upset over the limited service and uncertainty of when trains would be running.
"It's a very big inconvenience," said Sarah Kimbark of Mamaroneck.
Kimbark takes the Harlem Line every morning, and also takes a second train to Port Chester and Mamaroneck to work a second job.
"I'm always late, yesterday and today," she said. "I've thought about different options, like taking a cab, but why do that when the fault is Con Ed's and the train's?"
Others tried to keep the situation in perspective, but are finding it difficult to navigate the schedules.
Mark Kaicher of Greenwich, Conn., took the train from Harrison after receiving a ride from his wife. He said that on his return, he got off after being told there would be another local train following, which never arrived.
"It's a minor inconvenience," he said. "They're working out the kinks. I can't complain too much. They usually have reliable service, this is just something beyond their control."
"I think they're doing a great job of informing us what's happening. Not so much with scheduling the train service," said Bea Richardson of Norwalk, Conn.
As a train pulled into Harrison, she was hoping that it would be her's, but it wasn't. She said that she deal with trains being late, but she wishes the service were more reliable and didn't seemingly change every half hour.
