It's "Snowing" at Armonk's Hickory & Tweed

ARMONK, N.Y. - The snowmaker at Hickory & Tweed was working hard on Wednesday, creating a winter wonderland that delighted residents.

Jake Sheeley, a store employee for 16 years, said snowmaking at Hickory & Tweed is a winter tradition for at least the past 10 years.

"But it has to be cold enough to make snow," he said, "Twenty seven degrees or below."

The cold snap that hit Armonk Tuesday was ideal for snowmaking. Sheeley said he started making the snow with the Backyard Blizzard Home Snowmaker at 9 a.m. and by mid-afternoon a white sheen covered the front of the store and there were small snow drifts on the store steps, forcing Sheeley to shovel to clear a path for a small boy who was leaving the store.

"It's beautiful," said Jaimme Pudalov, an Armonk resident who was shopping at the store. "Winter doesn't start until Hickory & Tweed has its first snow."
