WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - The Hutchinson River Parkway re-opened before 2 p.m. Tuesday, while others remained closed due to downed trees from Hurricane Sandy.
The Hutchinson River Parkway is closed from the New York City line to the Cross County Parkway exit because of debris on the road, the state Department of Transportation said..
The Bronx River Parkway is closed between the Sprain Brook Parkway and exit 26, Virginia Road, the DOT said.
The Sprain Brook Parkway has been reopened.
“A lot of it depends on when the rain stops and what the tides are doing," Sue Stepp, spokesperson for Region Eight of the Department of Transportation said of when roads would reopen. "We've got lots and lots of people out there cutting debris.”
Several exits on the Saw Mill River Parkway remained closed Tuesday afternoon due to downed trees, including both Ashford Avenue exits in Dobbs Ferry, exit 21 (Route 119) in Elmsford, the exit 5A (Palmer Road) in Yonkers and exit 23 in Greenburgh.
"We're still having some wind gusts so there's still some trees falling down," Stepp said.
