WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. ? If you're a struggling Westchester artist or arts organization with a special project that could use a financial boost, you might want to apply for help from ArtsWestchester.
The organization is now accepting applications for its 2012 Arts Alive Grants, which allow non-profit arts organizations and artists to present their programs and exhibitions to a wider public audience.
The deadline for submissions is Sept. 14. ArtsWestchester is also offering two workshops to assist applicants in the grant writing and application process. The workshops are Wednesday, Aug. 15, in Mount Vernon and Wednesday, Aug. 29, in White Plains. ArtsWestchester encourages prospective applicants to attend one of the workshops.
In this challenging economy, our local arts organizations need support more than ever, says ArtsWestchester CEO Janet Langsam. 'Arts Alive is a fitting name for this grant category, as these grants can often make it possible for a program to be presented.
Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel of artists, as well as business, civic and cultural leaders. The panel will make recomendations to ArtsWestchester's Board of Trustees, which will award two types of grants: Arts Alive Project Grants and Arts Alive Artist Grants.
Sixty-two applications were received last year, and ArtsWestchester awarded approximately $40,000 in grants.
