Four Byram Hills Students Place in Art Show 5K

ARMONK, N.Y. – The top three male finishers in Sunday’s 5K race, to benefit the North Castle Public Library and Armonk Art Show, were all members of the Byram Hills track team, along with the second-place female runner.

Marc Violone, 17, crossed the line first to win the first-ever Armonk Outdoor Art Show race with a time of 17:28. The race was open to the public.

“It’s good to win and represent Byram Hills,” Violone said. “It’s nice to come out here and represent Armonk and especially raise money for the art show and library. It’s a good fundraiser and a good run.”

Violone finished just three seconds before Byram Hills teammate Brendan Cutler, who said he couldn’t be happier that the team finished so well.

“Since we’re the local high school it’s great for us--the track team--to be able to support the library,” Cutler said. “Especially when you’re one of the most highly academic teams of the school, it’s good to do something for the community as a team.”

Ben Ferraro, also from Byram Hills track team, finished third, with a time of 17:45.

Armonk resident Shannon Duff, 47, was the first woman to cross the finish line as she broke 22 seconds for the first time ever in a 5K race with a time of 21:57.

“I’ve done other 5Ks before so it’s not new but this is a personal best for me,” Duffy said. “I love the Armonk Art Show, I go every year with my family, we always purchase something and it’s great.”

Lauren Perschetz, of Byram Hills High School, finished second at 22:45 and 52-year-old White Plains resident Judy Rubin finished third at 22:50.
