The storm system could bring bouts of rain and patchy fog to much of the East Coast, including the tristate area, according to AccuWeather.

The projected path of the storm will allow it to cross over parts of the Lower Hudson Valley as it moves north, AccuWeather.

Rain is expected to fall mainly after 10 p.m. , with the system wrapping up sometime in the late morning Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday's overnight low will be between 34 and 37 degrees.

New precipitation amounts of between a quarter and half of an inch of rain are possible.

Heavy snow associated with the system could occur later in the weekend when it moves over New England and strikes the Canadian Maritimes, according to AccuWeather.

The local forecast for later in the holiday weekend calls for mostly sunny skies with high temperatures in the 20s and 30s.
