Fake Cops Invade Hastings Home, Tie Up Family

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. --Thieves impersonating police held a Main Street family at gunpoint, tied them up and stole cash receipts earned from the family's restaurant, the victim said.

Mantung Cheng, who runs New China Restaurant on the corner of Warburton Avenue, said three men knocked on the door of his home this morning about 9 a.m. The thieves said they were police so Cheng invited them in. Once inside, Cheng said they pulled out guns, tied up him, his wife and father, stole money and fled. Cheng called police.

"They said they were cops, so I let them in," Cheng said. "They tried to get my money. It was a little cash. From one, maybe two days."

Police have not yet released any details of the crime.
