Exhumed 'Leatherman' Grave Yields Few Clues

The Leatherman was symbolically reburied in a new gravesite this week after archeologists and historians failed to find any remains in the legendary nomad’s original grave in Ossining, NY: TheDailyOssining.com

Known for wearing leather head-to-toe, the strange wanderer lived in rock shelters and “leatherman caves,” as they are called today, making a continual clockwise loop on foot through many towns in Connecticut and the Hudson Valley, including North Salem, Armonk, Chappaqua, Mt. Kisco, Pound Ridge, Yorktown, Peekskill and Somers. He repeated the loop every 34 days, stopping in the towns for food and supplies, but rarely speaking to anyone. It isn’t known why he made his seemingly endless journey, and the exhumation of his grave yielded few if any clues.
