WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - David Berkowitz, the “Son of Sam” murderer who was arrested in Yonkers 40 years ago, is reportedly undergoing emergency surgery to save his life.
Berkowitz - who killed six people and shot seven others during the infamous summer of 1976 and was arrested in front of his Yonkers apartment in 1977 - has been transferred to an outside hospital in Albany, away from the Shawangunk Correctional Facility, according to the New York State Department of Corrections.
According to multiple reports, Berkowitz was hospitalized to undergo heart surgery. His current condition was not immediately available.
