Cuomo Endorses Nonna for County Legislator

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – In a statement released Thursday, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that he is endorsing incumbent John Nonna for District-3 County Legislator.

“John Nonna has brought to the County Legislator the qualities of bipartisanship, fairness and transparency that I admire,” Cuomo said in the press release.  “He is more concerned with solving problems than with scoring political points,”

In this election, Nonna is being challenged by Republican and Conservative candidate Michael Smith.  If Nonna is reelected, it will be his third consecutive term as county legislator.  Nonna said that he was very grateful for Cuomo’s endorsement.

“I am extremely proud and honored to have been endorsed by Governor Cuomo,” Nonna said in a statement.  “I thank the Governor for his support in this election, and look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues in the County Legislature to serve the people of Westchester.”

Nonna will appear on the ballot under the Democratic and Independence party lines. On Wednesday, November 2, Nonna and Smith will square off in a televised debate on PCTV.  The debate can be viewed on Cablevision channel 76, Verizon channel 36 or at pctv76.org.  It will begin at 7 p.m.

District-3 County Legislator encompasses Mount Pleasant, Pleasantville, and Sleepy Hollow, and parts of Greenburgh, and North Castle and Briarcliff Manor.
