Con Ed Hopes Most Power Restored by Late Thurdsay

ARMONK, N.Y.- Con Edison has restored 96 percent of power in its service area, according to a news release on ConEd.com Thursday Sept. 1, but much of North Castle remains without power.

The news release stated, “In Westchester, the communities with the highest number of customers still without power due to the storm include North Castle, Cortlandt, Mount Pleasant, and New Castle. About 7,400 of the 93,000 customers in Westchester originally affected remain without power due to the storm.”

Con Ed hopes to have the rest of Westchester County’s power restored by late Thursday night.

“About 180,000 of the 187,800 customers in New York City and Westchester County who lost power as a result of the storm now have had service restored. Hurricane Irene’s fierce winds knocked trees into power lines, poles and transformers, causing more power outages in Con Edison’s service area than any other storm in history,” the statement said.
