Computer Glitch Keeps Metro-North Riders Off Subways

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A computer glitch left thousands of Metro-North and Long Island railroad commuters stranded on Monday, Dec. 1, when their MetroCards wouldn't allow them through subway turnstiles, according to LoHud.com.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials said a coding problem allowed 2,828 Metro-North commuters to receive faulty MetroCards via the commuter rail's mail-and-ride program. The problem was more widespread with Long Island Railroad commuters, with an estimated 7,153 customers impacted by the glitch, LoHud.com reported. 

For the time being, MTA officials said commuters can show their monthly pass to any subway attendant or bus operato,r and they will be allowed to ride, LoHud.com said.
