Calling All Westchester Seniors for Federal Survey

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Calling all seniors, care givers, and people who work with seniors. Westchester County government is conducting a federally-mandated survey to help accommodate older residents in 2012-2015 plans.

The survey includes two questions on 21 topics such as affordable housing, health care, financial planning, and transportation. Seniors are invited to indicate that they have a "low," "moderate," or "significant" needs for various services. The questionnaire also includes space for respondents to anonymously add additional thoughts.

Department of Senior Programs and Services Commissioner Mae Carpenter said the county wants to hear from seniors before the Sept. 30 deadline.

"We must ensure that the interests of our constituents are considered as we develop our programs and services. Please take the time to complete this important survey about your current needs and anticipated challenges," Carpenter said in a statement.

Residents of all ages are invited to fill out the survey, which the county's Department of Senior Programs and Services will analyze and send to the New York State Office for the Aging to consider when creating related policies. Results will also be sent to the federal Administration on Aging.
