Body Found in Indianapolis Could be Lauren Spierer

EDGEMONT, NY - A female body found in Indianapolis Monday morning has sparked concern in Indiana over whether it is Edgemont resident Lauren Spierer, 20, who went missing in Bloomington in the early hours of June 3.

While Bloomington Police are not certain if the body is Spierer's, investigators are working with the Indianapolis Police to piece together a description of the body. A forensic examination will be done soon and hopefully provide an identification, said Bloomington Police.

The body was recovered Monday from Fall Creek on the northeast corner of Indianapolis.

Spierer, a 2009 graduate of Edgemont High School, had recently completed her sophomore year studying fashion at Indiana University and was enrolled in a summer course. She was last seen Friday, June 3, at roughly 4:15 a.m. leaving her friends and walking back to her apartment.

Spierer's parents, Rob and Charlene, arrived in Bloomington June 4 and have spent countless hours with volunteers and searching the area.
