Award-Winning '60 Minutes' Newsman Bob Simon Dies In Car Crash

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Award-winning "60 Minutes" correspondent and CBS News foreign reporter Bob Simon was killed in a car crash on Wednesday night in New York City, according to CBS News.

The accident occurred when Simon, 73, was riding in the back of a livery cab and it rear-ended another vehicle, the report said. The cab crashed into barriers separating north-and-southbound traffic on the West Side High Way, the report said. 

The crash left Simon unconscious and with injuries to his torso, the report said. He was transported to St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital where he died, the report said. The cab driver was taken to another hospital with injuries to his arms and legs, the report said. 

Police are investigating the accident but have made no arrests, the report said.
