ARMONK, N.Y.- The Engel Burman Group is hoping to gain the Town of North Castles approval to build an assisted living facility at 90 Business Park Drive in Armonk.
North Castle Director of Planning, Adam Kaufman, and the rest of the towns planning board will meet with Engel Burman at the next Town Planning Board meeting Sept. 12 at 7pm in Town Hall.
The proposed lot for the new facility is currently vacant with a 104,000 square foot foundation for an office building which was built in the early 90s. Engel Burmans Steven Krieger thinks its the perfect location for an assisted living community.
We think that Armonk is a great location for an assisted living community and theres nothing in that surrounding area currently, Krieger said. Armonks a very upscale community and in need of an assisted living community, so itll be a great location for us.
Krieger is confident that the Sept. 12 meeting will get the ball rolling for the facility, which he hopes to break ground on in the first quarter of 2012.
We have a meeting on Sept. 12 where Ill be submitting my site plan and subdivision applications to the planning board, Krieger said. Im hoping to get the community approved by the end of the year and we have a lot to do to approve this. We need a special permit and then we have to get a site plan and a subdivision. We also have to get our architectural review board approvals.
Krieger thinks the assisted living facility would be perfect for Armonk, which currently has no such site.
90-percent of the residents that move into an assisted living community either live within five miles of the community or their care givers (their kids) live within five miles so its very beneficial to a local community to have an assisted living facility in their vicinity, Krieger said. So far the town of North Castle has been very cooperative and theyve been a pleasure to work with.
